Meet Melissa
State Representative Melissa “Missy” Cerrato has represented the 151st district in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives since 2022. Growing up in the Philadelphia suburbs, she and her husband have been raising their four daughters in Horsham for the past fourteen years. Melissa has dedicated her life to caring for others through her work as an eldercare companion, nanny, district office director for Rep. Liz Hanbidge, and now through her role as State Representative.
Melissa’s true passion helping those in need. She has been a strong advocate for local nonprofit organizations, working tirelessly to support their missions and ensure they have the resources needed to serve the people of her community. Representative Cerrato currently serves on several committees, including Human Services, Aging & Older Adult Services, Children & Youth, Tourism, Recreation & Economic Development, and Local Government.
Throughout her first term, Melissa has created or co-prime sponsored twenty-eight bills and has already successfully passed three bills (HB1218, HB1903) through the House, with one (HB1564) being signed into law by Governor Shapiro. Pennsylvania House Bill 1564 amends the Social Workers, Marriage & Family Therapists, and Professional Counselors Act, aiming to streamline the licensing process, reduce barriers to entry for qualified professionals, and ensure that licensed individuals meet consistent and rigorous standards, ultimately enhancing the quality of care provided to residents across Pennsylvania.
